Lost in Bamboo - Kyoto

Magical and Mystical; A grove of towing Bamboo surrounded me on my latest adventure to Japan. Set in the district of Arashiyama, the endless Bamboo had me in complete fascination as I wandered the walkways that eventually lead me to Tenriju-ji temple. Just as I thought my day was complete I received my next pleasant surprise - The Kimono Forest of Arashiyama train station. Wow, just wow! Somehow I managed to embark on this journey alone, catch the train, follow the Japanese signage and to my surprise I made it there and back without a single catch. Was I scared? A little, but I did it and that alone gave me the happiest feeling all day! Travelling alone gave me the greatest satisfaction at times, that time with myself, completely out of my comfort zone in a Country where I don't speak the language. I really do believe it's these experiences that have enabled me to grow and become the person I am today.

Floating - The Dead Sea

Jordan, a Country which has so much to offer us all with wanderlust. After a day exploring the stunning city of Petra on we go to The Dead Sea, something very high up on my Bucket List. To be there, floating, turning my dreams into reality left the biggest smile on my face. The salt water alone left my skin feeling silky smooth and the mud mask, well! One thing I was not aware of before visiting was the stunning views the Jordanian side had to offer, the sea itself acted like a perfect mirror. The pictures above speak for themselves. I can easily say this has been one of the most amazing travel experiences to date and completely fell in love with this beautiful country and all of its offerings. Wearing one of my best bikinis I soon came to realise this was a serious school boy error. Note to self do not wear favourite pieces when in contact with mud!

Petra

Last minute trip to Petra - Check. My 4th out of the 7 World Wonders and a trip that has given me such beautiful memories. Drinking tea with the Bedouin people, hikes to The Monastery, camel rides and the perfect view of The Treasury are just a few personal highlights. With this trip involving much hiking in high temperatures I needed something nice and light to wear. Sticking with my obsession over all things white I simply knotted a kimono of mine, added denim shorts (playing it safe for those camel rides) and converse to keep my feet comfy.

A Day Bursting with Colour - Cinque Terre

One of the first things that came to my mind when I knew Italy was on the cards.. The Cinque Terre. After admiring many photos of these cute little villages, I was on track to ticking off another 'must see' that was high up on my list. Pastel Paradise on the cliffs of the Italian Riviera! We started off at the top with Monterosso and worked our way down to my personal favourite Manarola, stopping in at Vernazza on the way. Vernazza had the most going with many local shops and restaurants, but the view of Manarola is like no other. We used the train as our transportation which was perfect, only taking a few minutes to pass from one village to the next. This also showed off the villages from a far all lined up along the coast line. Wow! No wonder this place is a MUST SEE! To make the day even more special was the fact I got to spend it with one of my all time favourite people - my Nan!
